Urgent appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday) during opening times:

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Routine appointments

You can request a routine appointment in advance during opening times.

Once our appointments are fully booked for non-urgent/routine issues, you will be offered an appointment on a Saturday at Carlton House Hub, 28 Tenniswood Road, Enfield, Middx, EN1 3LL (close to Enfield Town), where GP appointments have been allocated for Southgate Surgery patients.

We will respond to requests within 5 working days.

Morning appointments

Please contact the surgery by phone or in person, on the day, between 8am and 10:30am, when an appointment time will be allocated to you. Please be aware that your appointment will be after 9am.

Afternoon appointments

Please phone the surgery at 3:30pm for an afternoon appointment.

Patients should be prepared to wait some time for an urgent appointment, as they are always busy, particularly on a Monday morning.

Enfield unity extended access services

There are some urgent appointments available through the Enfield unity extended access services based at Eagle House and Carlton House sites between 6:30pm to 8pm weekdays, 9am to 8pm Saturdays and 8am to 8pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

To book, rearrange or cancel these appointments when we are closed, please call 0208 370 4910. Lines are open 6:30pm to 8pm weekdays and 9am to 5pm on Saturday. For anything urgent call 111, call 999 in an emergency.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

For visits to your home, requests should be made between 8:30am and 10am by calling the surgery on 020 8440 9301. The necessity of the visit will be assessed by the duty doctor.

We are not able to promise which doctor will visit. This depends on various factors. Home visits are mainly for elderly, disabled and seriously ill patients who are unable to attend the practice.
